Head of Digital

Salary: Grade 10, £56,525 - £63,098 per annum. Appointments will normally be made to the first point of the grade. 

The Royal College of Music (RCM) is one of the world's greatest conservatoires. The RCM also achieved an overall rating of gold for its outstanding teaching and learning provision for undergraduates in the first ever Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). 

The Head of Digital is responsible for strategic planning and practical delivery of all aspects of technical and creative activity using digital technology across the RCM. They promote the usage, teaching and research of creative technologies in the College’s academic and performance programmes. 

The post-holder manages the RCM digital team, which provides: ICT facilities and support; sound recording, video production and broadcast services; digital learning and research support; studios and music technology resources, and technical support for live concerts and events. 

The Head of Digital is responsible for the RCM’s digital infrastructure and facilities, ensuring they are robust, current and up-to-date and to industry standard, efficient and capable of supporting the essential requirements of professors, students and supporting staff. The post-holder provides advice, design expertise and technology approvals for the RCM Estates development programme and other relevant projects. 

The post-holder is tasked with supporting the financial sustainability of the RCM by managing a range of commercial digital activities and identifying new opportunities to generate revenue. They represent the College internationally in a range of professional forums including in the digital learning, performance technology and classical recording industries. 

This role reports to Directorate through the Artistic Director and is an active member of the wider senior management of the College. 

This post is offered on a permanent, full-time basis and is available from November 2020.
